What do I do once I have a buyer?

Congratulations on selling your dress! Here's our advice on the next steps to make everything go smoothly :). Remember: Never communicate with a buyer privately via phone, text, or personal emails. Stick within our built-in messaging system to protect your privacy and your dress.

Next Steps When You Have A Buyer

  1. Go Over All Details
When you are ready to invoice your buyer, go through all of the details of your gown with them (make sure the tag size you listed is what the dress actually is, confirm that she understands the alterations done on it, etc). If your gown is in a preservation box, please review it to make sure the cleaning service did indeed remove all possible stains (sometimes they get missed).
  2. Price Out Shipping & Insurance
You will need to get a shipping quote for the weight/dimensions of the packaged item and can add this to the invoice for your buyer. Be sure your buyer is aware of any potential customs/duty charges that'll be her responsibility when the dress arrives if you are shipping internationally.
  3. Picture Time!
Take pictures of the gown before you ship it and take a video of it as you pack the gown. This will be a good record of you sending the gown in the agreed-upon condition.
  4. Invoice Your Buyer
PayPal is integrated into our site so that you can send you a PayPal invoice directly inside the message thread. PayPal provides purchase protection, which you can read more about here: Transact With Peace of Mind and Purchase Protection
  5. Pack It Right
Use a box that is just the right size for your dress to get the most efficient shipping rate. A box that is between 18 x 16 x 9 and 24 x 18 x 5 typically works well. Purchase one at a local post office or UPS location. For more information on how to best ship your dress, please go here: Seller Guide: How To Pack & Ship Your Wedding Dress
  6. Receive Payment
Wait until you have received payment to ship your item. If your payment is being held by PayPal, give them a call. This happens sometimes and they will let you know which account was flagged and the next steps for releasing the funds.
  7. Ship it!
Give the tracking number to the buyer so that they can monitor the shipment's progress.
