How much does shipping cost?
Shipping Your Dress or Item
OnceWed sellers typically choose to have the buyer pay for shipping, but they may offer to pay for half the total shipping amount or to cover it entirely.
Shipping costs could be anywhere from $40 to $200 and will depend on a variety of factors:
- Buyers location
- Sellers location
- Dress/item box weight & size
- Final sale price
- Shipping carrier
- Insurance
Read our shipping tips here.
To get an initial shipping quote, all you need is:
- a city or postal code
- box dimensions
- weight of packaged item
- hop on to your bathroom scale with the package (note the weight)
- then without the package (note the weight).
- simply take the difference in weight - this will be your shipping weight. On average, you can expect shipping a wedding dress to weigh 6-10lbs.
International Shipping
When a package is shipped internationally the buyer will be responsible for import duties and taxes imposed by their country, and possibly other taxes and charges such as sales tax and a customs service fee. This is in addition to the shipping fee charged by the seller and it is the buyer's responsibility to pay them before being able to release the package from customs.
To determine the import fees a buyer may have to pay, we have put together a list for several country's government websites:
- United States: cbp.gov
- Canada: cbsa-asfc.gc.ca
- United Kingdom: gov.uk
- New Zealand: customs.govt.nz
- Germany: zoll.de
- South Africa: sars.gov.za
- Australia: border.gov.au
- European Union: ec.europa.eu
